A disturbance at Little Woodrow’s on Phelan Boulevard on January 3rd 2025 resulted in a serious injury to a Beaumont Police officer.
Around 1:40 a.m., officers responded to the disturbance. While attempting to detain an individual, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, prompting the the officer to try stop the convertible jumping onto it, then falling off the moving vehicle causing a head injury.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Jamaysha Butler, was apprehended at her residence in the 3800 block of Kings Row several minutes later where she then evaded officers on foot.
Butler faces charges of Intoxication Assault and Evading Detention, both with the serious bodily injury to a peace officer enhancement.
A second individual involved in the disturbance, 22-year-old Melissa Bell, was also arrested.
Officer S. Stevenson arrived on scene at 6210 Phelan Blvd. finding Bell in handcuffs and learned that Bell had placed herself between Butler and the officer who was later injured, interfering with the arrest.
While walking Bell to his patrol unit she had kicked and kneed Officer Stevenson.

Bell faces charges of public intoxication, resisting arrest, interference with public duties, assault on a peace officer, and outstanding warrants.
The officer has been transported to a Houston area hospital with Brain Bleed, a serious head injury and is in serious but stable condition.
