On Wednesday afternoon, a man opened fire at the Forum Köpenick in Berlin, seriously injuring another man in the attack.

Reports indicate that the shooting took place around 11 a.m. at a Turkish snack bar on Bahnhofstrasse. Berlin police informed MAZ that a single individual was injured in the incident.

The suspect also reportedly fired at a second snack bar across Bahnhofstrasse in front of the shopping center, though no one was hit, according to Berlin police spokesperson Florian Nath. Following this, the gunman fled the scene and remains at large.

Surveillance footage from the snack bar, obtained by BME, shows a man dressed in black and wearing a hood. In the video, he pauses in front of the snack bar and initially tries to use a gun that appears to malfunction. He then pulls out a second pistol and fires several rounds through the window, targeting an employee inside. The shooter appears calm and unflinching during the attack, while several passers-by can be seen nearby just before the shots are fired. The employee, seemingly taken by surprise, is hit in the upper body and collapses.

There is a moment in the footage that suggests brief eye contact between the shooter and the victim just before the gunfire. The injured man was quickly taken to a hospital by ambulance, where he underwent surgery. Police have reported that his injuries are not life-threatening.

The snack bar owner reportedly recognized the shooter; however, the suspect has not yet been apprehended, and the search in Köpenick is ongoing. While several witnesses have been questioned, they have not provided any concrete leads on the shooter’s identity. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
