Drunk Driver Hits 3 Customers Outside Wine Store

The Public Security Department reported that a 34-year-old driver was arrested for drunk driving after injuring two victims who received treatment at hospitals in the capital.

In the early hours of Wednesday (16), a drunk driver veered onto the sidewalk, striking three individuals in front of a wine cellar in Vila Jaguara, West Zone of São Paulo. The incident was captured on a security camera.

The footage shows one of the victims on his phone, conversing with someone inside the wine cellar. Moments later, a speeding Uno crashes into him and two others who were not visible in the footage.

One of the men who was hit managed to stand up shortly after the collision, while the other two remained on the ground. Soon after, three people approached the driver, seemingly demanding an explanation.

The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) confirmed the driver’s arrest for drunk driving. Two of the three victims were transported to PS Lapa and the University Hospital for treatment.

The case has been filed as drunk driving and negligent bodily harm at the 33rd DP (Pirituba).

The young man in the green t-shirt, seen at the start of the video, suffered injuries to both legs and required them to be placed in casts.
